Andre Onana has no plans to cut short his time at Manchester United despite his inconsistent form and Ruben Amorim’s desire for a new goalkeeper.
The MEN reports that Amorim wants to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer as third-choice Tom Heaton is likely to retire and the mid-season Africa Cup of Nations means that Onana could spend significant time away from the club in 2025-26. Meanwhile, No.2 Altay Biyindir could head for pastures new in search of more first-team minutes.
There is currently no suggestion that Onana will leave with three years to run on his contract, as he only wants to play for United despite his struggles putting his future under the microscope. For what it’s worth, Amorim has publicly defender his goalkeeper and the Cameroon international was improved in the FA Cup fifth-round defeat to Fulham on Sunday.
The Man Utd stopper will be determined to go for as long as possible without making another mistake, having seen confidence in his ability waver in recent times after a solid period. He will need to be at his best this week as United face Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie, before hosting Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
