Trent Alexander-Arnold has agreed in principle to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.
The English full-back is preparing to part ways with his boyhood club, Liverpool, this summer, finalizing a free transfer to Real Madrid. According to Sky Sports Switzerland, Alexander-Arnold’s representatives, including his brother, met with the La Liga giants and have agreed on a five-year contract for the player.
Under the agreement, the defender will earn an annual salary of €15 million (£13m/$16m), a substantial increase from his current wages at Liverpool. In addition to his salary, Alexander-Arnold will receive lucrative performance-based bonuses and a signing bonus comparable to a hefty transfer fee.
Liverpool have been pushing to secure a new contract with their star full-back throughout the 2024-25 season, but he remains resolute in his decision to step out of his comfort zone and embrace a new challenge abroad.
For now, the 26-year-old is focused on securing his second Premier League title with Arne Slot’s squad, who currently hold a comfortable 12-point lead over second-placed Arsenal. Their next challenge awaits on April 2, when they face arch-rivals Everton at Anfield.
