Mason Greenwood has been given a deadline to salvage his Marseille career after being dropped to the bench, following his time at Manchester United.
After his 2024 transfer to Stade Velodrome, Greenwood had a strong start to his French football career. He is still Marseille’s top scorer this season, with 15 goals in 26 Ligue 1 matches.
However, Greenwood has fallen down the pecking order under Roberto De Zerbi. The strict coach has commented on the 23-year-old’s recent performances, which have resulted in him being dropped from the starting lineup: “I expect more from him. He has to do more, because what he is currently showing is not enough.”
Marseille named Greenwood as a substitute for their losses to Lens and Paris Saint-Germain before the March international break. They will face Reims on Saturday, and Greenwood has made an early return to training for the match, which has pleased his manager.
