The 17-year-old, now a two-time league champion, broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with a perfectly placed curling shot from distance that nestled into the top corner.
After Yamal – whose clash with Cabrera resulted in the defender’s 86th-minute red card – assisted fellow academy product López’s stoppage-time clincher against Espanyol, Barcelona completed their takeover from rivals Real Madrid, whom they had defeated in April’s Copa del Rey final.
Barça’s treble dreams ended in a thrilling Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter (7-6 agg.) earlier this month. While their 28th LaLiga title was secured with two matches remaining, they still trail Real Madrid’s record 36 championships.
