The French international offered no justification for his dangerous tackle and was said to be visibly distraught over the incident.
Despite playing with ten men after Mbappe’s dismissal, Carlo Ancelotti’s side successfully defended their narrow lead from Eduardo Camavinga’s first-half goal to claim all three points against Alaves.
