Lionel Messi’s fitness remains a concern for Inter Miami ahead of their MLS return, as the Argentine star undergoes treatment after training separately.
The Herons have not played since March 16. They’ve had a break from domestic matches while several key players have been representing their countries. Javier Mascherano’s team will host the Philadelphia Union this Saturday.
It is yet to be determined if Messi will participate in that match. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner’s workload has been closely monitored since the start of the 2025 season. He has missed MLS and CONCACAF Champions Cup games.

Messi was also compelled to withdraw from the latest Argentina squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, opting to stay in Florida with his wife Antonela and their three children. The 37-year-old has been resting, but it seems he hasn’t fully recovered yet.
Messi has been following an individual training regimen in Miami. He received treatment on his well-known leg during an open session earlier in the week. Although he is not currently part of the main group, there is still time for him to recover from a muscle issue before potentially playing against the Union at Chase Stadium..
