Mohamed Salah signs new Liverpool contract, extending stay until 2026

Salah’s previous contract was set to expire this summer, with his future at Liverpool appearing uncertain after remarks made by the 32-year-old earlier in the season, coupled with strong interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. The new agreement now provides him the opportunity to build upon his impressive tally of 243 goals and 109 assists in 394 matches for the Reds.

“Of course I’m very excited – we have a great team now,” said Salah.

“Before we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.

“I have played eight years here, hopefully it’s going to be 10. I’m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I have had the best years of my career here.”

With 32 goals across all competitions this season (27 in the Premier League), Salah continues driving Liverpool’s charge for a record 20th league title. The Reds currently hold an 11-point lead over Arsenal with seven matches left. Since arriving from Roma in 2017, the Egyptian has lifted every major trophy at Anfield – including the Champions League and Premier League. His contract extension resolves one of three impending free-agent situations for Liverpool, with Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk’s deals also expiring this summer.

Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk has indicated positive developments in his contract discussions, while Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to be strongly associated with a potential transfer to Real Madrid. Salah’s former contract, reportedly exceeding £350,000 weekly, had established him as Liverpool’s highest-ever earner. Sources suggest the renewal negotiations maintained his existing salary level without reduction
